Aeternity (AE) is a decentralized platform for aepps that scales through smart contracts. It has its own language supporting formal verification, which allows developers to write simpler and safer code. Aeternity uses a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus with a block time of under 15 seconds.
Crucially, every component of Aeternity was built by the team itself. It is not a layer bolted on top of an existing blockchain. That gives it outstanding efficiency and substantially lowers the cost of executing smart contracts and near-instant transactions.
